The second half of August included us just soaking up the last bit of summer and enjoying lazy time at home...
Week 204:
The boys were both very excited to get new magazines. Thanks to Grandma and Papa, Asher was upgraded to Highlights Magazine and Avery started receiving High Five Magazine...he was VERY excited to finally start getting his own magazine like Asher does!
Eric taught Asher how to cut the lawn and let him do a little bit of the backyard on his own (with a lot of supervision and some help pushing and turning the lawnmower when needed).

We went to Meijer...
Week 205:
Week 205 started with a very BIG and BUSY day for Asher. First, it was his annual Birthday Fun Day with Grandma and Papa. After a couple of hours at daycare, they (along with Asher's cousin Caleb who is one year older and shares a June birthday) picked up Asher and then headed to Action Territory for the day. From what I heard they had a blast playing several rounds of Mini-Golf, Go-Karting, Bumper-Boating, Laser-Taging, and more. They enjoyed a pizza lunch and then got Happy Meals from McDonald's for dinner with sundaes for dessert.
When all was said and done they brought Asher back to us, but instead of bringing him home they brought him to a friend's birthday party that we were at. It was our little friend Etta's fourth birthday. Here, Avery and I enjoyed decorating an apron and then we all got to have some pizza and cake for dinner and dessert. Avery had a good time playing with all the other kids but once Asher arrived we didn't last too long at the party as he was COMPLETELY wiped out from his exciting day with Grandma and Papa!
On Wednesday night my parents came and stayed with us for the weekend. Thus, the boys were both quite excited to be able to stay home from daycare with their grandparents on Thursday! I had a good laugh when I came downstairs that morning to find Avery in his "ninja" outfit for the day! :P

From what I heard the boys had a fairly busy day with Grandma and Papa that (Thursday) morning and afternoon. In addition to bike rides and fun at the park they also hit up the city pool for a few hours and got a treat from Big Star. That evening, when I realized that they were still in that area of Kenosha, I suggested Big Star as an option for dinner. Thus, everyone met there and we enjoyed our last drive-in meal of the year together!

On Friday, Eric had to go to work but since it was my day off I got to enjoy some time with the kids and my parents. We headed up to Racine to have breakfast and then stopped at Pet's park on the way home to play for a bit.
That afternoon and evening, Eric and I finally got to celebrate our 16th anniversary by going out to a movie (Mission Impossible) followed up by dinner at Iguana Wana Mexican Grill and a walk around Meijer.

On Saturday we enjoyed a nice morning with my parents touring the Harbor Market and then following that up with a trolly ride and lunch at Choo Choo Charlie's. Then in the afternoon we took some rests, Mom and I did a little shopping and the boys got a little more time playing with their grandparents.
Side Story: When Eric and I were out and about on Friday we stopped in at Rogans to purchase a quality pair of shoes for Asher (because he seems to be burning through shoes at an insane rate). Rogans always has a deal of buy one, get one 1/2 off. Thus we thought it made sense to buy two pairs and considered purchasing one for each of the boys. I called my mom back at the house to verify the boys' shoe sizes and apparently they overheard what was going on. When Eric and I got home that evening the boys were still awake and Avery immediately came and asked if he could see the shoes we got him...except we didn't. Instead, we bought 2 pairs of shoes for Asher (one for now and one later for him to grow into). The look of disappointment on our little guy's face was heartbreaking (& we even made sure he didn't find out that Asher actually got TWO new pairs). :( I reminded him though that he didn't really need shoes because he had an entire box full of hand-me-down shoes from Eric's cousin. He headed upstairs to look at the box and see if there was anything he could wear ("new to him"). He found a pair of soccer cleats and even though they were at least 2 sizes too big, he wore them for most of the rest of the weekend and some of the following week. He was still bummed that he didn't get new shoes like Asher, but he did think he looked pretty cool in his "soccer clothes". ;)
That night, when Eric was *supposed to be* putting Asher to bed they were wrestling a little when Asher's face accidentally ended up in Eric's knee. Eric said he heard what sounded like a crack and Asher was crying and saying his mouth hurt. The next morning I looked at it and found that he did indeed have a wiggly tooth (thankfully not one of his adult ones). A month later, we are still waiting for the wiggler to fall out (much to Asher's dismay).
On Sunday the boys all headed to Meijer for some donuts and a few groceries. Then we went to church and out for lunch with Mom and Dad before saying our goodbyes and heading back home for much-needed naps.
Week 206:
Finally it was the last week of August and it went very quick. We had some crazy weather during the week including what looked like a dragon storm and then on Thursday morning after a quick meet and greet with Asher's new 1st Grade teacher we headed to Michigan for Labor Day Weekend at the cottage.
