Baby Life Week 47: The Simple Life

This week, was one of simple fun: Enjoying each other, enjoying the warm spring weather and enjoying some yummy food...

On Saturday we enjoyed our annual trip to Steins to browse the plants and flowers.  Every year, we find something to plant.  Sometimes it is vegetables, sometimes flowers, sometimes shrubs.  Often it is something to replace something else that died over the winter.  Neither of us are real great at gardening, but we do enjoy the attempts to make our yard beautiful.

On Sunday morning, Asher got his bath before church.  As I looked at him in his Cookie Monster towel, I was reminded yet again how much he's changed...so I had to take some pictures.

After bath time, Daddy finished getting Asher dressed & decided he needed a new "do" too!

When we went to church, everyone asked if we were getting pictures taken that day, since we had coordinated.  It really had just happened that way and was unplanned, but I am always up for the opportunity to try for a nice family photo...

On Sunday afternoon it got really warm for a bit, so we decided to break out the kiddie pool and let Asher splash around a bit.  He loved it.

Later on Sunday, Daddy gave Asher his very first driving lesson...

We finally rounded out the weekend with a yummy summer meal...hamburgers on the grill, tater tots and corn.  Asher had already eaten a ton of food that day, but he didn't want to miss out on some yummy big-people food!

During the week, we didn't do much out of the ordinary.  We worked, Asher went to daycare and we took care of each other and the household chores in the evening before bed.

On Wednesday, my friend Grace brought her sons Frankie & baby boy Ben over for a play date.  We had a great time catching up since we saw each other last (when Asher was 4 months and Ben wasn't even born!).

After lunch, Asher & I tried some fresh avocado together.  The verdict is still out.  He did eat it, but he didn't seem too interested.  We'll try again some time when he is a little less full.

That evening, we had pasties for dinner and Asher enjoyed is very first taste of pasties.  He is officially now an honorary Yooper! :)  ...PS to you LP Michiganders, please note that there is NO gravy on his tray.  Asher will know that ketchup is the only (& correct) way to eat a pasty! :)

Video: We've been trying to get a video of Asher standing on his own.  He can now do it for short amounts of time, but rarely does it since he prefers to be on the move.  Fast forward to the end of this video to see it if you want.

Well, that pretty much sums up our week.  On Friday night, we prepared for our Memorial Day Weekend...more on that later.  Until then, here is the update on the basement remodel...almost ready for drywall! :)
