Toddler Tales Week 4: The Highs and Lows

For the most part, this week was a pretty typical week in the Migrin household, but there were a few high points and low points.  The low point was the death of our Outreach pastor, Jim Striegler.  Neither Eric or I knew him very well, but he was one of the first people we met at IBC.  Like he did for many others, he came to our home and visited with us a little while after we began attending the church.  Although Eric and I were already Christians, he was ready to share the gospel with us if need be.  That is the person he was; friendly and fearless when it came to conversing with others and sharing God's love.  We are both happy to have known him, and happy to have shared our block party every year with him...even though he didn't live on our block! :)

The high points of the week (in no particular order) included having a play date with our new friends Jen and baby William, enjoying some fresh veggies from our mini-garden, watching Asher as he continues to learn more about the world around him, and watching he and his Daddy as they grow in their important Father-Son relationship.  Although Asher is still a bit of a momma's boy, after he turned 1, something changed a bit.  We noticed it while we were on vacation, as he was increasingly wanting to be held by Daddy instead of me.  Asher loves his Daddy, and that love grows more and more each day, as I'm sure Eric's love for him grows as well.  It is so fun to watch their bond grow as Eric teaches Asher how to have fun while also being the man we pray he will be...and what a good role model Eric is (a loving husband, son, brother, friend and father).

Video: Playing in rain (We have gotten quite a bit of rain lately, which means that there hasn't been as much playing outside as we'd like.  Tonight, the rain didn't stop Eric & Asher though.

Asher now fits in the Vans that I bought for him MANY years ago...he is now just like Daddy! :)

Curious Little Boy...We had the high chair outside for a few days (we have another that we used in the meantime), as we washed it and let it dry out.  When it came back in, Asher was very curious about it and desperately wanted to get himself seated in it.

Asher using a spoon.  I don't think this is quite the first time, as I think he gets to hold a spoon at daycare while he eats...but it was a first for us! :)
