A Team Week 95: Terrible Not-Quite Twos

This week was B-U-S-Y.  Eric and I were both working to get things at work taken care of before our vacation (which began at the end of this week) and I spent most of my "free time" at home those evenings packing.  On top of that Avery was in an awful funk for the entire week.  Nothing we did was in agreement with him, he refused to eat meals or even sit at the table with us, he began using the word "No" all.the.time (which continued throughout our vacation), and he threw major fits when bedtime came around (not wanting to settle down, refusing to brush his teeth, knocking books out of my hands at story time, not wanting to snuggle, screaming when placed in his crib and then learning to climb out of his crib, which he now does whenever he desires).  It was kind of a tough week, but it also had some some sweet moments...

On Monday night I picked up the boys from daycare, took them home and then went into the house to start dinner while they played in the backyard.  A little while later, Asher came in telling me that he couldn't find Avery anywhere.  I went back outside with him and together we looked all over the yard yelling Avery's name.  Nothing.  We didn't see him or hear him anywhere.  Finally, I went into the garage to look harder for him and found him quietly sitting in the bike trailer with a little smirk on his face (which blatantly told me that he knew full well that we were looking for him and that he was happy with his hiding spot).  Seeing Avery in the trailer, Asher decided that he needed to take Avery for a ride.  I went back into the house while they played together in the driveway, convinced that they were going on a road trip together (yes just the two of them) with Asher pulling and Avery riding behind.  They even had a gallon-sized container of pretzel bites stowed in the back!  At one point I did find Avery "buckled in" with the buckle more around his neck than waist, which was a bit terrifying, but after correcting that I enjoyed watching them happily play together while I made dinner.  When Eric got home, he helped Asher figure out a way to hook the trailer up to his Ninja Turtle bike and then Asher was able to take Avery for a real ride.  They were both thrilled.

On Tuesday night, the boys enjoyed helping Daddy with a fence panel.  For some unknown reason Avery was naked during this (hence the blurring), but they were happy and happy boys make for a happy momma.

Thursday Eric and I got a new camera lens (our gift to each other for our upcoming 14th anniversary - the traditional gift is ivory/animals and while the lens isn't made of either, it was used on vacation to capture some animals).  Eric got to spend a little time trying it out before we headed out on Friday.

Earlier this week, Eric got an old Boys bathroom sign from a job site, thinking it would be funny to place on the boys' door someday if they ever share a room.  When he showed it to me, it never really dawned on me that it was old and used and likely covered with disgusting germs...that is until I looked up from the couch to see Avery holding it and licking it.  Suddenly the germy realization hit me...HARD.  I think I may have puked a little in my mouth! ;P

Friday morning we finished up our packing, ran a quick Meijer run, took Emma to the vet (very last minute as we realized that morning she had a skin infection from her seasonal allergies) and then rushed to the airport to wrap up A Team Week 95 and begin our Summer Southern Vaca...

Ready to Vacation!
