Truck or Treat

On Saturday morning of this past weekend, Eric and I loaded Asher & Emma into the van and headed to Crystal Lake (along with my parents who had come down for the weekend) to go Truck or Treating with my brother and his family.  It was an event put on by the City of Crystal Lake where all of the local trucks (such as the fire trucks, garbage trucks, tow trucks, ice cream trucks, semis, etc) get together and let kids go trick or treating from one to another.  Not only do they let you see the trucks up close AND give you candy, but they also let the kids climb around in the trucks and blow the horns.  ...it is every little boy's dream come true and we didn't want to miss it (thanks for inviting us Aaron & Erika).

Family Photo.

Asher was Clark Kent for the day.  I wanted to make him a costume, but didn't want to spend a lot of time or money on it.  I got this idea from Pinterest and thought it'd be perfect because we already had a Superman onesie, so I just had to get a tie, some glasses and make a cape.

Before we let all the kids get out of their costumes, we wanted to get a picture of them all together (Asher was with his cousins Caleb (the corn cob) & Micah (the cookies & milk) and their cousin Eliza (the lion)).  I doubted that we'd be able to get them to hold still, but we sang "If You're Happy & You Know It," and they stood pretty still for the entire song!  Four little CUTIES!

When the picture were over, we enjoyed the rest of the day hanging out with the family at Aaron & Erika's house, sharing lunch, taking naps, playing outside, making some homemade apple sauce and then topping it off with a family dinner out.  It was a good day and exhausting...Asher almost stayed asleep through his entire diaper and clothes-to-PJs changes!
