This year, we spent another Memorial Day Weekend at Eric's parents' lake home (aka The Cottage) in Michigan. We left after work on Thursday night before the weekend and arrived at midnight our time. The trip went fairly well, other than a certain little 2 year old who slept just long enough on the way to think it was time to play when we arrived. It took a while to convince him that it was time for bed and then at 5:30 the next morning he had had enough and was ready to start the fun. Thankfully I convinced him to snuggle up with me for another hour before venturing out into the rest of the home.

From that point, the rest of the weekend was great. We had a great time enjoying the beach, the boat, some fishing, the golf cart, the jet skis and more. It was also pretty wonderful that the boys are now old enough to entertain themselves and stay alive with very little assistance. I spent much of my weekend sitting near them while reading an actual book for pleasure! It was amazing!

These days Asher is ALWAYS begging us to go to the church parking lot near our house so he can have more room than our driveway allows to ride his bike. This weekend we took his bike with us to the cottage and he was thrilled to be able to ride up and down the road with supervision. Since we didn't have bikes to go along with (& are lazier) we followed close behind in the golf cart! ;)

On Sunday afternoon, everyone went for a boat ride but Eric and I stayed back to enjoy some quiet nap time. Below are several pictures I "stole" from Eric's mom's phone of their trip.

Per typical, Avery woke up bright and early on Monday morning. To allow the others to continue sleeping I took him out to the garage to let him play and serenade me while I laid back down.

So that was our weekend at the cottage. It was a great weekend with nice-enough weather and a lot of fun. At about 12:30 (after having lunch) we headed back home to Wisconsin. It was a VERY SLOW trip, but 7 hours later with a Culver's treat/potty stop and another stop to run around we made it and thankfully the boys were both pretty good the whole way even though Avery did start yelling "Get me outta here!" off and on the last hour.
