A Team Week 195: The End of the Line

This week we reached the end of the line in several areas of life...

1. Asher completed his first year of school.

2. Eric and I reached the end of our sanity after allowing Asher to purchase his own micro drone.

We kept trying to tell Asher that he needed to practice flying the drone in the house but he desperately wanted to fly it outside.  Eventually we allowed him to take it to the park (a large open space) to fly it and despite our warnings and instructions he insisted on flying it as high up and as fast as he could (it is only about 4" in diameter making it impossibly to see at any distance).  A couple of times I had to rescue it from the street and one time before I could get to it a car narrowly missed running over it.  At that point it was time to head home.  Worst.decision.ever.

3. Our search for a new home ended when toured two home and found one that we loved and realized we didn't want to add the financial strain at this time and couldn't afford to fight with at least three other couples for it.

The house we loved.  It was in a great school district, with an amazing lawn, close to everything we need and use and had everything we were looking for and more...but it just wasn't meant to be.  :(

4. Eight years after the project began at work, I finally got the design book finished, printed and in my hands.

5. Fed up with Asher's repeated requests to go to the park we put a stop to them (at least for a little while) by purchasing a cheap swing set on clearance from Menards.

This purchase makes me laugh because buying the kids a swing-set seems like a nice and loving thing to do but really it went something like this:

Asher: Daddy can we go to the park?
Eric: Not right now.
Asher: Daddy can we go to the park?
Eric: Not right now.
Asher: Daddy can we go to the park?
Eric: Not right now.
Asher: Daddy can we go to the park?
Eric: Asher, if I buy you a swing set will you stop asking us to take you to the park?
Asher: Yes.
Eric (On his phone searching for a cheap swingset...finds one on Menards' website): Asher, Avery, want to go to Menards with Daddy to get a swingset?
...car starts, boys leave, mommy gets an hour + of alone time.

Avery still not great at pumping.

6. With the end of the week we enjoyed a celebratory Father's Day weekend.  Eric started his weekend off early with a little bit of solo relaxation time at home.

Even though we should have been making breakfast for him, Eric worked with Avery to make pancakes for the family.

7. In preparation of the end of Spring following this week we finally got around to taking our Spring family photo.

7. Not only was this weekend Father's Day Weekend, but it was also the end of the line for Eric's 38th year, culminating with his 38th birthday on Sunday.  To celebrate, we enjoyed some family time at the city pool, a dinner at Big Star, Father's Day AND Birthday presents and then a DQ ice cream cake for dessert!
Last year Asher was tall enough to ride the water slide at the pool but decided it was  a little too scary.  This year he had NO FEAR and spent most of the time we were at the pool going up the stairs and down the slide over and over again.

While Asher took the slide, Avery had fun playing with Daddy.  He even learned to swim on his own for a few feet but never takes his face out of the water until he bumps into something.

8. Finally, I reached the end of the line with this blog post and have a few other pictures that didn't make the previous cut...
A surprise act of love from an "anonymous" dear friend.
