Blessed Beyond Measure: A2H 2019.31: Two Main Events

This week comprised of two events: Strep Throat and the Tall Ships. The first few days passed quickly with no hiccups, but on Wednesday night Avery started to not feel well and had a fever. It just isn't summer unless one of the kids gets sick at least once, right?

Since Avery was in no shape for daycare on Thursday and I had a meeting that day, Eric stayed home with him. They spent much of the day working on Legos together (finishing off the rocket I got Eric for his birthday) and then they headed downtown to watch as the Tall Ships made their way into the Kenosha Harbor.

I love Eric dearly, but he isn't good at staying home and just doing nothing when the kids are sick. That, combined with the fact that Eric had been looking forward to seeing the ships come in from his office window convinced him that he should take Avery down there to see them. At first he said Avery was doing fine, but soon after he realized he must really not feel well because all Avery wanted to do was lay down.

As they waited and Eric messaged me at work, I convinced him that if they were going to watch the ships arrive he should go get Asher from daycare so that he is not left out. So, Eric and Avery left to get Asher and then the three of them watched the arrival together (and apparently also got Frosties from Wendy's as Avery later reported).

Eric left this on my desk for me to find on Thursday night.

On Friday, it was my turn to stay home with Avery who still had a fairly high fever, was complaining that his throat hurt (and it looked nasty) and had started to get a rash on his face. As a person who had an ear/nose/throat doctor as a kid and got strep WAY too many times, my gut told me he had strep so I took him into the doctor. 5 minutes after we arrived, strep was confirmed and we were off to pick up Avery's prescription.

On Saturday, Avery was feeling much better so we decided to enjoy the beautiful day and head downtown to see the tall ships together as a family and enjoy Harbor Market. We had a fun time walking around as a family and then enjoyed some samples and lunch at Sam's Club but by the time we were all done Asher was feeling crumby and also had a fever. We headed back home, had the pediatrician call in a strep prescription for him as well and then spent the rest of our weekend quarantined at home.
