This week, our little man turned 11 months old. He is quickly becoming a little boy instead of my baby boy. He can now stand on his own for short periods of time, although he isn't really a fan of doing so. He still loves to make noises with his lips, fingers and tongue and laughs whenever someone else makes noises. He loves to play with Mommy and Daddy, but also has his own agenda. He gets into everything as his curiosity gets the best of him, which often results in trouble (this week that meant a shattered lamp in the living room). He is also quickly becoming a typical boy which loves rough play. On Friday night, he kept trying to hit Eric in the face. It was a playful hit, but Eric kept telling him "no" and pushing his hand away. Asher responded to that with a giant pouty lip! When he was told "no" again, the pouty lip came out again, and then was followed by loud wailing! Although Asher does not like to be told no and only obeys it some of the time, I think this time was different. He seemed less upset by the fact that we told him "no" and more upset by the fact that Daddy was upset with him. I guess he understood the pain of parental disappointment for the first time. This month, Asher also discovered how to get into the cabinets (thankful the cleaning supplies are already locked away), meaning that pots and pans have become a new toy. He (& we) also learned that he can reach the stove dials, which means that we now have safety covers on them. He has also learned that it is fun to chew on his crib when he is bored in there, so we are currently looking for something to cover the edges with (any suggestions...the crib wraps sold in stores are crazy expensive!). Finally, Asher has become a big fan of music in the past month. He has always enjoyed it (especially country), but this month he seemed to become an even bigger fan. He often will go up to the farm Jumperoo that we borrowed from Aaron & Erika and shake it so the music turns on. Then he will stand next to it and dance (or wiggle) while the music plays...Eric and I have now learned all of the songs! :)
Well that is our 11 month old in a nut shell. I can't believe I will be reporting on his 1st year in just a few weeks!
