Baby Life Week 51: Blub, Blub, Blub

Unlike adult life, in baby life every day is different.  Every day Asher learns new things, does new things, tries new foods.  There is so much to experience in life and Asher is taking it one day at a time.  As I've said before for a parent, that makes Baby Life pass in the blink of an eye.  One minute they are a newborn snuggled up in your arms and the next, they are trying to get away from you as quickly as possibly while you attempt to change a diaper.  This week, Asher had two notable firsts, which happened on the same day.  The first of the firsts, was Asher's first Father's day.  The second, was Asher learning how to blow bubbles in the kiddie pool (with his mouth) after watching Daddy do it.  It is pretty cute to watch, and he is SO proud of himself for it!  ...and his Daddy was pretty proud of his little guy!  :)

This week started off with a lazy Saturday like normal.  We did some chores, played outside and went for a mini bike ride to return a movie.  A simple (wonderful) family day.

Nothing says Baby Toy like a metal chain, right?

The next Michael Jordan?

Asher did pretty well on our ride to the store, but on the way home he decided he'd had enough and cried the whole way (which wasn't very far).

A Baby Bunny we found on our ride.
On Sunday it was Father's Day...a day to celebrate the men in our life that care for us, love us, play with us, provide for us, protect us and so much more.  For me it was a day to celebrate my own father (who was doubly celebrated as it was also his birthday), my father-in-law (who made a great example to Eric of how to be a great dad and husband, and has since taken me in as one of his own) and new this year, my husband and father to our amazing little guy!  From the very first time I saw Eric with kids, I knew he was going to be an incredible daddy and I was SOOOOO right!  I am thankful every day for him and the man that he is both for me and Asher.  We couldn't have made it through this year without you babe!  :)

Silly like his daddy.
Father's day was a gorgeous day!  It was sunny and warm right from the start.  For breakfast we enjoyed big pancakes, and Asher had his with strawberries and bananas.  When he was done, he was a MESS, and desperately needed to get cleaned up before church.  Rather than cleaning him up in the tub, we filled up the pool outside and gave him a bath.  He loved it.  Bath time outside, what could be better?

After everyone was cleaned up, we headed over to church which was followed up by Red Robin with friends (Val-if you read this...yes, we went there again!) :) When we got home, it was time for Asher and I to give Eric his Father's Day gifts.

With my help, Asher made Eric a poem with his footprints on it, and also a book for them to enjoy together with pictures of the two of them and all the reasons (well not all, because there would be too many) that Asher loves his Daddy.

Asher enjoying the remnants of the gifts.

Since the weather was totally perfect and the clematis was flowering, we decided to also take our Spring picture of the family before Spring was over.  Now that Asher can get around on his own, it was pretty difficult to do and we didn't really get any great shots.  Here is what we did get...we're hoping that with this, we can photoshop a better (albeit fake) picture.

Since we were having difficulty getting a good family shot, we decided to try to take some of us without Asher and then some of Asher alone.  Then we thought we could combine the photos, allowing us to entertain Asher while the photos are being taken.  As we sat and waited for the timer to go off (several times), both kids wandered off.  As soon as it was done (we thought) we jumped up to get them.

Superman pose?

Love the froggy on his butt!

After picture time and nap time, we let Asher have a bit more pool time.  This is when he mastered the bubble blowing (blub, blub, blub).

On Monday, it was Eric's 33rd Birthday.  Asher and I left a little surprise for him to enjoy at work.

After work, we had a no-cook night (frozen pizza) followed up by a little play time, presents and cake (for Eric & I, not Asher)...now, for a few weeks at least...Eric is married to a younger woman! :)

After Eric's birthday (and until Asher's party this weekend) the focus has been entirely on the big ONE party.  Thus, Asher and I spent part of our Wednesday afternoon together at Target getting supplies.  He seems to think that riding in the cart is much better facing forward and standing up (or trying to)...I seem to think that Target needs better child restraints!

Finally, there is one more new thing that Asher learned this week:  He learned the word No.  On Monday, when I picked Asher up from daycare, Christina told me that Asher had tried to grab a wrapper from a treat that her daughter was eating.  When he tried to grab it, she placed her hand on it, so that he couldn't get it.  He looked right at her and said, "No!".  Apparently, all of the "No" that he has been hearing at home (in regards to eating the dog's food (which he also tried to do with his own baby spoon this week), climbing things, chewing on things he shouldn't, hitting, pulling hair, etc.) has taught him a new word.  I fear we've created a little monster.  Now, when we tell him "No", he points at us (slightly shaking his finger) and says, Doe, Doe Doe (think No, No, No with a cold).  :)
