Wow. When Asher turned one, I thought the year had gone by so fast, and it did but nothing compares to how quickly things go when you have more than one child. I really have no idea where this past year went. It was an amazing year, but it passed in just a fraction of a blink of an eye. September 24, 2014 (11:54am), Avery is born. Blink. September 24, 2015, Avery is 1. So, how do I describe my littlest guy 12 months later? ...here goes...
First he is a character! Since birth he has been a very dramatic little guy that can go from the happiest/smiliest baby around to a screaming disaster in just a moment. He is a fun loving little boy who flirts with everyone around him and can make basically anyone nearby smile back.
He is busy, busy, busy. He is pretty much constantly moving from the moment he wakes up in the morning to the moment he calls it quits and is ready for bed at night. At the same time though he does like to take short little snuggle breaks and will frequently back his little behind up into me and then plop down on my lap for some loving.
The short black hair that he was born with has changed to a light auburn color and grown enough to earn three haircuts. His dark blue eyes that I thought for sure would turn brown are still quite blue but seem to be gaining a tint of green like Eric and I.
He can now sit, crawl, stand, walk, run, clap, blow kisses, bend down to pick things up, wave hi and bye, play peekaboo, nod yes or no when asked a question and more. He still doesn't talk much saying only mama, dada, ball, hi and sometimes Emma, but he is very good at getting his point across through pointing and baby gibberish which usually involves yelling of sorts.
Although he is becoming more and more independent, he is still a momma's boy and tends to want to be wherever I am. If I go in the house, he wants to go in the house. If I go in the bathroom, he usually comes to find me. This momma gets no privacy, but relishes every moment of loving attention nonetheless and has a love/hate relationship with the thought that someday he will love another woman and I will have to take the backseat.
He is curious and often gets himself into trouble trying to figure things out...like the carbon monoxide detector, the dog food bowl, gravity, etc.
Avery loves dinosaurs, cars/trucks/tractors/trains/etc and any toy of Ashers. His favorite toy though is Asher's blue truck which Asher now calls Avery's truck. Basically any time that Avery is outside he is sitting in or climbing on the truck and if it is not in the yard and I loose sight of him for a moment, I can bet that he is in the back corner of our garage working hard to push it back out into the yard.
At his twelve month appointment, Avery weighed in at 22pounds 5 ounces (42%), was 30.75 inches long (80%) and had a 19 inch head circumference (92%). He also had a total of 11 teeth!
This year, although a whirlwind, has been absolutely incredible. A little over a year ago, I worried about having two kids...how I would have enough love for them both...how I would divide my time...how I would hold on to my sanity. All of the worries were for nothing. Honestly I am not sure at times how I made it through (well, I am...the grace of God), but I did. My heart bursts with love for my boys and I thoroughly enjoying watching their personalities blossom. Although it is almost impossible to not compare them, I love seeing them each become their own person. They are so different and yet they are brothers. They will always have each other and two parents that are crazy in love with them. The smiles they both share, the joy they bring, the laughter in our house, the tears I get to wipe away, the boo boos to kiss, the tiny toes to tickle and so much more: All blessings I ponder and treasure in my heart. So.So.Blessed. Happy Birthday to my baby boy. I love you Avery Mikey
