On Friday, it was time to head back home to Wisconsin, but we thankfully had planned ahead and chose an early evening flight so that we could enjoy one last vacation day and time with family (including Rob and his girlfriend Negin who had joined us after we'd gone to bed the evening before).
We spent the morning packing up, enjoying a family breakfast and playing on the beach...

When we were done playing at the beach, Avery went down for a nap and Asher and Emmett stayed up for a while to play together adding some color to the nearby sidewalk.
While Avery continued to sleep, we headed across the street for one last ice cream cone before it was time to go. When we returned, Avery got up and we spent the rest of our time in Pass-A-Grill relaxing on the pool patio and visiting with family. Then, shortly after, it was time to load into our rental van one last time and make our way back to the airport.

I kept preparing myself for Asher to throw a huge fit about having to go, but it never came. I thought he'd be devastated to leave the beach, especially when his cousin/buddy was staying for a while. Instead, he happily got into his seat and said goodbye to the family. (I think that although we all had a great time/week everyone was ready to get back to regular life and get some rest). When we got into the van, Asher was excitedly talking to us about all sorts of things and I was surprised he was staying awake, after being allowed to skip nap time in order to have a little extra Florida day. After about 15-20 minutes in the car though, he suddenly stopped talking and just passed out. He was so cute in his seat.
It took us a lot longer to get to the airport than we had anticipated, so by the time we got there Eric and I were concerned that we would be cutting it close. We hurried as we got the kids (I pulled a sleeping Asher out of his seat without even waking him, but he woke up soon after) and all of our luggage from the van, returned it and got inside to get our boarding passes and check our luggage. Again, Thrifty car rental failed as a guy came running inside after us asking for our key and we had already signed the paperwork and given the key to another guy (get your stuff organized!). Thankfully, we were able to get our boarding passes quickly and didn't take long going through security. We got to our gate with enough time to grab some sandwiches to eat on the plane and take some quick potty breaks. Then it was time to board and head home.
This time, we had a direct flight back to Milwaukee and it was a full plane so all four of us were together in one row. We got settled into our seats and prayed for a safe and easy ride home. The flight went well, but with a flight at almost 7pm I thought both the boys would quickly fall asleep. They didn't. Asher ate snacks and watched a movie the entire way home and Avery bounced all over my lap for the majority of the ride. With about 45 minutes left to the flight though, he finally fell asleep in my arms, and my arm proceeded to do the same. Thankfully though, we were soon on the ground and headed back home after another great family vacation.
