A Team Week 83: Five

This week was pretty typical.  We worked, played, ate, slept, etc.  There were a few moments that were out of our weekly routines, such as a Monday boys' night while I worked late, and a Saturday afternoon visit with friends, but for the most part is was all just normal, every day life.  All of the normalcy only highlighted the fact that this week also marked five years since I miscarried our first child.  Five years have passed, and life has continued.  For a while it felt like time stood still, but really it just kept ticking away.  Life moved on.  I moved on...but even after five years and the beautiful boys that I have entered my life since, the painful memories remain.  I can't say I'd change what happened if I could.  Changing that misfortune would also mean removing at least one if not both of the greatest blessings in my life.  The memories are painful.  They make my heart ache as I recall pleading with God to let me keep the baby, but they also remind me how much He has given me since and that He was with me all the way through it all.  Five years have passed and simultaneously it feel like an eternity and just seconds.

An image sent to me by a dear friend as I was given a reminder of this all from Facebook this week.

So... this week was the 5th anniversary of the worst time in my life, but as I said it was also pretty basic.  I am so thankful for an Amazing and Faithful God, and the twinkling eyes, giggles and love of all (3) my boys that make the everyday moments of life perfectly perfect.

Monday Night: While I worked late, the boys had a Boys' Night Out enjoying the Golden Corral buffet (where kids under 4 eat free!)  I'm told that they were in awe of the endless choices and that Asher especially like the chocolate fountain!

Wednesday: A beautiful Spring Day with my little loves.

Thursday: With warmer weather, our Magnolia finally blossomed and we got to enjoy our first meal of the year outside.

Saturday: With Spring also came Spring cleaning.  I finally got around to cleaning my couch!
They were in pretty rough shape!

Saturday Afternoon: After nap time on Saturday, we headed down to Wheaton, IL to visit our good friends the Laillets in their new home.  The boys especially liked their new playground!

Everyone enjoying the sunshine and playground.

This little bridge went into their neighbors' backyard, so I told them they couldn't cross it...but man did they want to and telling them they couldn't made it that much more desirable!

Sunday: Rest, Play, Church, Rest, Play, Rest

I am a new teacher for the Toddler/Preschool class at church.  We were learning about Loving God and Loving Our Neighbors this month, so to close out the theme we had a small, last-minute Food Drive instead of craft time this week.  People donated about one laundry basketful of food, and the kids helped me sort the food to give to the Shalom Center here in Kenosha.  My hope and prayer is that they learned another way that they can love on and help others, but in reality it seemed most of the kids were preoccupied with the fact that they couldn't keep the groceries that they were given to sort!

Littlest man not feeling well AGAIN...started crying early into his nap and wouldn't settle down until I let him snuggle in with me and take his nap in my bed!

Learning out to use a real big boy hammer!

On Sunday afternoon, we played outside a while and enjoyed the sunshine.  Avery (who hasn't been feeling great) had a terribly stinky diaper that morning that was so smelly I tied it up in a plastic bag and threw it outside to be disposed of later.  Before I got around to tossing it, Avery found it and was convinced it was a "ba".  Over and over again, he would pick it up, throw it off the porch, climb down the stairs to retrieve it, climb back up the stairs to the top of the porch and do it all over again...and again...and again.

  1. They may not have completely understood the food drive, but they were very engaged in the activity and your lesson before it!
