2016 Labor Day Weekend

This past Labor Day, we closed out another amazing and busy summer with a final sunny summer weekend at the cottage.  To change things up a bit though we brought my parents along to enjoy the fun.  4 grandparents + 2 grand"babies" makes for 2 happy parents (yay! for Eric and I!).

The weekend was very low key and relaxing (or as relaxing as it gets chasing a 2 year old and 4 year old around for the weekend).  We didn't do anything too exciting, but simply enjoyed one another's company along with some fun on the water and yummy food!

Friday
Grammy, Olive, Asher, Eric, Avery & Emmett in the Hot Tub Party!

Eric's sister and her family were at the cottage with us Friday morning and left later that morning.  However, they left their dog Molly behind as they went away for the weekend.  Avery doesn't talk much but by the end of the weekend he could say "No Mow Mow!" quite well!  :P

The boys going for a ride with Grammy M & Grandma K

When nap time came on Friday, Avery wasn't very interested and now that he knows how to climb out of the pack-n-play things are much more difficult.  After putting him back into bed twice, I decided to lay on the bed and take my own rest until he fell asleep.  Eventually he got sleepy and passed out...with his cute little butt sticking up in the air!

After nap time, we all enjoyed a boat ride together and got our last ice cream of the season.

Turtles sun bathing on a branch.

They all jumped in when they spotted us, but this one.

Snuggles with Grammy <3

Saturday
Cookies in the sand!

The boys went swimming with Grandma K.

Michigan started of their season with a big win!  Go Blue!

Avery likes wearing Grammy's sun hat.

Cheese!

That night we had S'mores around the campfire.  Since Avery had refused to eat any dinner, he wasn't allowed to take part in the sweet treat.  Instead, he got some sweet snuggles by the lake with Grandma K.

Brownie S'more = Yummy!
On Saturday night Eric and I slipped out for a "date" walk around Meijer while the Grandmas took care of bedtime for us.  It wasn't much, but it is always nice to spend some kid-free time together.

Sunday
Avery fishing with Grandma

Snuggles with my little love.

Playing on the beach...again in Grammy's hat.

Asher just floating around.

Asher had to get his fill of jet ski rides to get him through the winter.

Avery desperately wanted to go too!

Gramps came to save the day!

This night we went for another boat ride...but for pizza rather than ice cream.

During our boat ride, Asher got to go tubing with Daddy.

This is the face of One.Happy.Boy.
As always, little man wanted to do whatever his big brother was doing.

Cute little piggies

After Asher did a couple of laps around the lake, Avery finally got his turn.  He was thrilled to get to do a Big Boy thing, but it didn't take him long to decide it was a little too scary for him.

Finally it was time to pick up our pizza and Avery was thrilled to get some food in his belly!

We enjoyed a one last campfire before the mosquitos took over and we called it a night (or a summer).

Dusk fishing with Daddy.
Monday/Labor Day
Finally, it was Monday, the last day of our holiday weekend.  Grammy made her delicious blueberry sauce and waffles for breakfast...

...and then after packing and a bit more play time it was time to head home!

It took some time on the drive home for everyone to calm down, but eventually the car was totally quiet.

We made it home in good time with a stop for lunch along the way.  Asher took home some souvenirs...Monster mosquito bites! :(  Other than that it was a great weekend with 7 of my favorite people on earth!
