A Team Week 191: The Wedding of the Year

This week we celebrated the wedding of the year and I am not talking about Megan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding which happened to be the same day.  Instead, we celebrated Eric's brother Rob and his fiancĂ© Negin's beautiful wedding in Ann Arbor, Michigan and this meant that our week was a little out of the ordinary.

On Monday through Thursday we took part in our typical work/school/daycare schedules while also preparing everything we needed for the weekend ahead.  The boys got haircuts the weekend before and Avery sat in the chair at Great Clips and told the lady all about the wedding, the suit he was going to wear and how he was going to look so good.  When we were leaving I was buckling him into his seat and I told him he was going to look SOOO good for the wedding.  He looked at me and ran his fingers through his hair as he said, "yep" and then winked at me!  I didn't even know he knew how to wink!!

For the boys' clothes I had bought them matching suits at Easter for them to wear to the wedding and as a bonus to wear for the Easter holiday.  In addition to the suit though, we were recently given an old powder blue polyester suit that Eric wore as a small child to his uncle's wedding.  Since Avery is currently the perfect size for the suit we thought it would be best to have him wear it to the reception so that his parents could relive the memories of Eric as a little guy.  Before Avery did that though, I had to have him try it on at home to make sure it fit.

Another thing I had to do before we left for Michigan was put together Rob and Negin's wedding gift.  We gave them a gift basket full of miscellaneous camping/day outing items and part of the gift were some personalized hot/cold mugs that I made for them with my trusty Silhouette Cameo and some permanent vinyl.  I wasn't sure how they would turn out, but I was quite pleased with the finished results.

On Thursday night as soon as everyone was home from work, school and daycare we loaded into the van and headed to Eric's parents house.  The next morning we enjoyed some lazy cottage time on the lake.

The boys were upgraded to a bunk bed at the cottage and they thought it was pretty much the best thing ever!

This picture is only funny if you're part of the family but it is nice to know that they are always ready for our company! ;)

After a morning of playing at the lake it was time to get ready, get back into the car and head to Ann Arbor to begin the wedding festivities.  Once in A2 we headed straight to the Ann Arbor City Club for the wedding rehearsal and dinner (more on that in another post).  When the dinner was drawing to a close (or rather the kids were becoming too antsy) Gramps took them for a walk and not-so-surprisingly ended up at a nearby Dairy Queen.  He wanted to buy everyone blizzards but since the boys hadn't really eaten any of their dinner we said they had to eat something else first.  With a McDonalds down the street Eric headed there to get them some cheeseburgers before ice cream and while he waited he checked out the men's room....

McDonalds took FORVER though so we never got blizzards.  Instead a very chilly rain started to fall so we headed back to the brewery that the rehearsal dinner was at, said our goodbyes and headed to our hotel with a stop at Wendy's along the way for 50 cent Frosties.

Once at the hotel we let the boys check out the pool and briefly say hi to Grandma and Papa who had just arrived as well.  Then it was time for bed to rest up for a busy day ahead.

The next morning was Wedding Day!  We enjoyed a quick hotel breakfast and then the boys had some pool time with Grandma and Papa while Eric and I headed back to the City Club to help prepare for the event.

When the decorating was finished and the girls' hair was done we headed back to our hotel to get ready for the wedding with a quick stop at Qdoba along the way for lunch.  Once we were ready we headed back to the club for family pictures and to begin the festivities of the day (again, more on that another time)...

The wedding was a wonderful and exhausting day.  When we got back to the hotel we literally fell into bed to sleep.  The next morning we enjoyed another hotel breakfast and then a little cousin-pool party before it was time to check out of the hotel.

Once we were checked out of the hotel we headed back downtown for the last time to enjoy a post-wedding brunch with both sides of the family (again, you'll have to wait) and then show the boys a few of the Ann Arbor sites before going back to Coldwater where we finished out the week and took some much-needed naps (well Eric and I...the boys got their naps on the drive there).
