This week marked not only the end of the summer months but also the end of an era. On Tuesday of this week Asher attended his very last day of daycare before he is officially a student.

I'm not going to lie, when Eric sent me this pic of Asher on his way to daycare for the last time before he is officially a kindergartner, I choked up a bit. How did we get here already? #holdingbacktears #growinguptoofast

On Tuesday night I overheard the boys playing 'food/house' and Asher says, "you can be the dad and I'll be the mom who makes all of the food." I couldn't help but laugh as this notion is obviously not based on his own personal home life experience!
😂
On Wednesday and Thursday daycare was closed (which is why Asher's last day was Tuesday) because Christina's daughter had her knee surgery. Since Eric and I were already planning to take Friday off for a long holiday weekend at the cottage, my dad volunteered to come down and watch the boys for us. Thanks Dad!
Wednesday evening was the Open House at Asher's elementary school. We took the opportunity to go (with my dad) and see his school and classroom and meet his teacher. A first for him and a first for us, it was a bit overwhelming. I wish we had had a little more time to look around, but it was still fun to see and it helped get Asher more excited about going to school.

Asher at the Class Dojo board...a computer linked to an app that Eric and I have downloaded which provides us information on what the class is doing/learning, pictures and allows us the opportunity to message directly with his teacher.

Checking out his locker.

Meeting the school's mascot (a Falcon)
|
Both of the boys were a bit shy around the falcon.

Checking out the library
On Thursday night we ended our 'week' and said a quick goodbye and thank you to my dad before he headed home and then we loaded into the van and headed to Michigan for the Labor Day Weekend...but for that you'll have to wait for another post...
