Labor Day Weekend 2019

Per the usual, this year we headed to Eric's parents' house for Labor Day Weekend to enjoy the little bit of summer that we had left.  It was a relaxing weekend of treefort building, eating yummy food (or in Hazel's case: rubber duckies and matchbox/hotwheels cars), playing at the lake, football and other miscellaneous moments of family time. ;)

The Tree Fort!
The tough Migrin boys bringing the first wall of the treefort over to go up!

Duckies & Cars!
Hazel discovered toy cars this weekend and was obsessed!  They kept her entertained for literally HOURS and surprisingly she seemed to know exactly what to do with them as she pushed them back and forth across the deck!

My attempt at Hazel's 1st French Braid.

In addition to the cars, these duckies were also a tasty treat for Hazel this weekend!

This month Hazel was really testing the limits of her mouth, trying to figure out how to make different sounds.  For a week or so she was constantly soaked from spit as she loved blowing raspberries and then she discovered that she could yell and would try to see how loud she could make her voice.  Here she does both.

When we weren't building the tree fort or playing with cars and duckies, we had fun just enjoying a little more family time before the chaos of the school year began.

On Saturday morning we went out to breakfast with Eric's parents.  Hazel enjoyed her first slice of toast and afterwards Eric and I enjoyed a mini date walking around downtown Coldwater including a tour of one of the original buildings built in the late 1800s and a stroll through the local Meijer.

An old Otis elevator.

At Meijer we found the Avengers backpack that  Avery had selected a while ago and our Meijer in Kenosha no longer had.  He was thrilled to get the backpack he wanted to start his school career!

That night I grilled up one of my favorite summer meals of steak shish kabob and then we followed it up with some Michigan Football (the first of the season and Baby Girl's first) and a campfire.

Do I have something on my lip?

On Sunday we had our last full summer day at the cottage.  The boys got in a little more swim time while Hazel and I got in a lot of snuggles.

That night, everyone except Hazel and I journeyed out for one last boat ride to the ice cream store.  I thought it was too late and too cold to go but everyone else was up for the trip.  Judging by the picture I found of Avery and Asher painfully snuggling with Gramps I think I made the right decision.

Finally on Monday it was Labor Day and time to pack up and head back home.  We loaded everything into the van, said our goodbyes and then made our way back to Kenosha.
