As I mentioned in my last post, we left Kenosha mid-way through the week to spend some time at the cottage. That is where this post begins:
We arrived at the cottage on Wednesday (August 29th) night. Thursday morning we awoke early to have a family photo shoot at the cottage with Eric's cousin Jen of
Jen Prouty Photography (she is the same person that did our
maternity photos). The photo shoot went fairly well thanks to Jen who was incredibly patient. What I thought would take an hour or so took somewhere between four & six. I should have known that taking photos with a 2 month old wasn't going to be easy. When we started the shoot Asher was so tired that he wouldn't keep his eyes open. Thus, we ended up having to give him a short morning nap. Then he cooperated for a little while and decided he was hungry, so I had to feed him. Finally he was rested and fed so we got to finish up the shoot. As I said it went fairly well, but I was very thankful for Jen taking her entire morning to work with us and our little guy who wasn't as interested in pictures as we were.

After the photo shoot was done, the rest of our cottage getaway was just filled with the typical (enjoyable) cottage activities:
We enjoyed sleeping in in the mornings (as much as we could with a 2 month old):

When sleeping in wasn't an option, we enjoyed the beauty of the lake early in the morning:

We celebrated Asher's 2 Month Birthday:

We enjoyed rooting for our favorite team (even though the outcome wasn't what we wanted):
We enjoyed family time:
 |
| Well, we enjoyed MOST of family time. |
 |
| Asher talking to Grandpa M. |
 |
| Uncle Robby meeting Asher for the first time |
 |
| Morning snuggle with Grandma M. |
 |
| Making faces at Mommy. |
 |
| You gotta love this guy! |

 |
| Migrin Men. |
 |
| Asher & Grandma chillin' in the new cottage. |
We enjoyed trips to Meijer (Including Asher's FIRST trip to Meijer).
We enjoyed cleaning up and eating. For us that meant showers in the outdoor shower (which is so relaxing...you need to try it sometime if you haven't before) and great meals prepared by Eric's parents. For Asher that meant a bath in Eric's old baby tub and attempts for bottle feeding (which resulted in a baby crying bloody murder and a grandmother feeling horrible for her little grandson).

We enjoyed some naps in the hammock.
We enjoyed time outside (& Asher really enjoyed some time outside completely naked) on the shore...

...and we enjoyed time outside on the lake, which included Asher's very first boat ride. We were able to find him an infant life jacket at the local marina, and although we thought he would pitch a total fit with it, he actually did quite well as long as we didn't make him sit in it (he liked to lay down or stand).

Well, it was a great week. We were able to be the first to sleep in the new cottage. We enjoyed time with Eric's family and time on our own. We ate well and caught up on sleep. The only way the week could have been any better, is if we didn't have to leave...we're already looking forward to next summer. :)
