As I mentioned in my previous post, today we loaded up the van and traveled to Eric's parents cottage to begin our family vacation. We arrived in the early afternoon and wasted no time getting down to the lake for some fun in the water with Asher.

Eric's mom had bought the kids a floaty to use in the water, so we let Asher take it for a spin. He wasn't too sure about it though and quickly wanted to get out.

When Eric took Asher out, Emma seized the moment and took it for a spin herself.

Asher much preferred being able to touch the bottom.

He also greatly enjoyed playing in the mud.

Eventually, he did get a bit more brave and ventured off into deeper waters, which resulted in a face-plant in the water and a worried mommy. ...sometimes I wish he was a bit less adventurous!

That evening, after Asher was in bed, Eric and I took the pontoon to the next lake over (Marble Lake) to watch their fireworks. We stayed in the back of the boats (further away) so that we could get home faster and enjoyed a quiet mini-date on the lake. Although it was short, it was nice to have a few minutes alone with my hubby!
