Michigan Vacation Day 2: Fun with Family

Today was day two of our Michigan vacation, and we got to enjoy another fun-filled day at Eric's parent's cottage in Coldwater with all of his family.

For Asher's birthday, his Auntie Julie, Uncle Dave and Uncle Rob got him a water table to play with.  After his morning nap time and lunch we set it up in the front yard.  I am not sure who had more fun, Asher or his Aunt Julie and Uncle Rob.

Meanwhile...Uncle Dave and Emmett enjoyed a snuggle in the hammock.

If you'll notice, the warning on the bucket is pretty much the same exact thing Asher is doing in this picture.  We must be horrible parents.

After dinner, we decided to enjoy a short boat ride around the lake and the adjacent lake with the family...

Asher couldn't sit still and spent the entire time walking back and forth around the boat.

Side Story: While we were on this boat ride, I got the camera out (obviously) and when I pointed it at Asher he said, "Cheese!".  We are not sure where he learned that, but he now says cheese whenever we get the cameras or ipods out.  :) ...he also says it when we ask him to (if he hasn't said it already), but often we get a delayed response and he doesn't say "Cheese" until after the cameras have been put away!

Eric and I may have been a bit crazy, but we decided to keep Asher up this evening for the fireworks on our lake.  He had never experienced them yet, and Eric (the pyro that he is) thought it was time.  Asher had a tough time staying awake that late (9pm our time), but he did make it to see some of the fireworks.  He was so tired though, that he seemed unfazed by them.  I snuggled him and covered his ears while he watched and whined.  He was whining not because he was afraid of them, but because he just wanted to go to sleep.  About mid way through the fireworks, I brought him inside and put him to bed...maybe next year we'll try again?
