Michigan Vacation Day 10: Home in the UP

Today, we enjoyed a relaxing day at my parents' home.  By this time, Asher was becoming quite annoyed with being in a carseat and would start to cry even as I simply opened the door to the van.  I think now that he can walk well, he really does not like anything keeping him still.  Throughout the trip he would protest being in his carseat, the carrier, the stroller or even being held!  He just wants to be down on his feet walking by himself!  Because of this, we told him that we wouldn't have to go anywhere today and that he could just enjoy freedom for a day.  The day was spent doing very much of very little.  We played in the pool, napped and visited with Mom and Dad and a few of our good friends.  It was the perfect low-key end to our vacation.

Since we didn't have much going on for the day and I always like to see our friends the Strietzels when we are in town (if possible), I asked my Mom if it would be okay if they came over to share dinner and a bonfire with us.  My mom (who also loves them) was totally on board, so we had a great evening hanging out with Laura, Jamie, their three kids (Kevin, Rebekah and Tim) and their new 10 week old puppy Rouger.
