Baby Life: Ten Months Old

On July 24th, Avery entered double digits...10 months old!  This year is flying by so quickly.  Before we know it we will be celebrating his first birthday and we will no longer have a baby in the house!
Taste testing the calendar.

At 10 months old, Avery is now 20lbs 3oz (33%), 29" tall (52%) and has a head of 18.75" (90%).  Although he ate like a maniac this month and seemed like he packed in more food than should be physically possible, he surprisingly only gained 1oz over the course of the month.

The face of Trouble.

He still has 8 teeth and continues to work on his 1 year molars.

While we were on our vacation this month, Avery finally transitioned from army-style crawling to hands and knees crawling...probably because he realized it didn't feel real great to have sticks, rocks and acorns rubbing his belly.

He continues to be a momma's boy and I frequently see him staring up at me with his beautiful blue eyes demanding to be picked up...and I'm a sucker...I usually give in.
Pick me up!!

If you won't pick me up, I'll climb up to you.

Avery not only demands attention from me, but everywhere we go he makes sure he is noticed.  His smile shines brightly to all we meet and it seems that people are drawn to him.  Eric and I both believe he will be much more outgoing that Asher is, as Avery seems to want to be the life of the party, while Asher usually likes to stay on the sidelines.  Avery continues to flirt with others (even strangers) and even blew kisses to some people at a restaurant this month.  He also started to clap this month (July 4th) and this past week began clapping whenever I would walk into a room...I'm not gonna lie, I enjoyed that! :)

The day before Avery's 10 month birthday, he also wowed us by taking his first steps.  He was so proud of himself and although I fear the trouble that lies ahead, we were very proud of/excited for our little guy too!

Avery's favorite toys include pretty much anything of Asher's and anything that makes music (he loves to dance).  Now that he is up on his feet he is also quite interested in the train and lawnmower to practice his moves...when Asher let's him play with them that is.  Another one of Avery's favorites is the water table.  He is a huge fan of water (as long as it isn't cold) and will stand at the table and splash like crazy for the longest time.

Avery loves to make noises of his own these days including his growls, yells and high-pitched squeals.  Prior to this month we had only every heard him say Mama or Ba (aka ball), but this month (to Eric's delight) he also added Dada to his vocabulary.  Another word that Avery learned this month is "no".  Although he has understood its meaning for a while, he now uses it himself by shaking his head.  One morning while we were on vacation, my mom came to take him from me so that I could get some more sleep.  When she reached out for him and asked him to come to grandma he looked at her, shook his head no and then snuggled back up to me.  (sassy boy!)

This little dude STILL does not sleep through the nights most nights and although I relish getting a full night of sleep when it does happen, I also know that my snuggles with him are fleeting and would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy those moments with my baby boy.

What a baby playing air guitar looks like! ;)
So, that was month 10.  We look forward to what the 11th month will bring!  :)

Getting his balance back.
