The A Team Week 47: Our Life After 13 Years

Since we didn't get home from the cottage until Monday night (our 13th anniversary), this week seemed to go by really quick.  We got home, had a mini anniversary celebration after the kids were in bed, worked a few days and then it was the weekend again.

This year, we kept our anniversary pretty low key.  Since we couldn't think of any great anniversary gifts to stick with the traditional gift theme, we didn't have any big gifts for each other.  Eric did surprise me though with ice cream from Stucchi's in Ann Arbor to recreate two of our first dates with an ice cream picnic in the back yard.
We had joked earlier the weekend before that we probably bought each other the same card.  When we exchanged them and saw the same envelopes we laughed and sure enough, for the 2nd time in 13 years we picked the same card for one another.

My ice cream with dry ice...which we had some fun with the next evening.

Anniversary selfie...considering I am actually in my pajamas and we are laying on the driveway, this picture actually didn't turn out too bad.

Our cards.
As I said, the rest of the week was pretty much the same old stuff, but here are a few tidbits to enjoy:

Avery is a total copy cat these days.  I catch him trying to put on shoes or socks like us, attempting to brush his own teeth (he puts the toothbrush in his mouth and then moves his head back and forth), trying to color on the driveway like Asher, and here he is trying to use a fork while eating dinner.

This picture doesn't look like much, but below that blanket is a rare moment of my boys playing together.  Asher made a fort for them with a blanket and our baby activity gym.

On Saturday we headed over to the Bailie residence to celebrate the birthdays of Asher and Avery's friends Jaxson (3) and Violet (1), who are brother and sister and were born on the same day.  It was a pirate/fairy party and everyone dressed up.  Asher simply had a Jake band and Avery a little do-rag and we all had tattoos.  I didn't get any pictures while they were dressed up though, but here are a few as all the kids played in the backyard.

On Sunday, I attempted a new food: I made the strawberry cream cheese roll-up French toast that I kept seeing on Facebook.  They looked great, but unfortunately tasted only okay.

Playing with my little pirate

Avery and Asher watching the new Netflix show DinoTrux.  I think Netflix has a pretty good idea of what boys like: Dinosaurs + Trucks.  Although neither of my boys have the attention span for a whole episode, we all enjoyed it.
Grocery shopping with Daddy

On Sunday evening Eric made his own attempt for a new food and made frickles (battered, fried pickles) to go with our dinner.  Avery, who started to really take off walking this week decided they were worth it and walked all the way from the dining room to the kitchen to get some!

Finally, after our dinner, the boys rounded out the week with some water fun in the backyard (and Eric had some fun with the slow-motion camera function on his phone).
