We arrived at the campground early Friday evening and after setting up our site we headed to a free Taco Buffet that the Camping for Cancer group (which we were not affiliated with but camping through as part of an annual fundraiser the American Cancer Society does) was having. Except for Avery, we were all pretty excited that the menu included tacos and nachos. Avery on the other hand refused to eat anything other than chips and cheese and even then, he made Grammy help him finish it off.
After dinner, we enjoyed warming up a bit around the campfire before the rain began and we headed off to bed.
The next morning we were surprised by the fact that Avery slept in later than usual. Unfortunately Asher was up before the sun and refused to go back to sleep. Since it was raining out and everyone else in the campground was still sleeping there was little we could do other than try to keep him quiet...which eventually led to me letting him play on my phone while I tried to get more rest.
By the time we were ready to get up, the rain and stopped and lucky for us remained at bay for the rest of the day. We spent the morning enjoying a French Toast breakfast, lots of relaxation while the boys played at the playground next to our site, some reading and I got to take a short nap while everyone else went for a walk in the woods.

For lunch, we warmed up with some ham and cheese sandwiches cooked over the fire and some hot chocolate. Although it was cool out, I decided I enjoyed camping in the cold MUCH more than camping with mosquitos like we had done at the beginning of the summer. At least with the cold we could make a fire and add layers.
After lunch the boys and I went with Grammy over to the Bingo Pavillion for a children's Bingo run. With our camping reservation through the Camping for Cancer group we were given (in addition to our free dinner the night before) 2 free bingo cards for each kid. Together we worked on marking off the numbers that were called as the boys longed for Bingo to collect a prize. Eventually, Avery got Bingo and was able to go up to the table where he chose a Batman yo-yo as his prize. Asher on the other hand was never a winner and was pretty upset about it. Secretly I wished it had been the other way around because Avery usually is okay with the notion of not winning (making it possible to play games with him) while Asher can not handle the disappointment...but alas, he has to learn sometime, right?

After Bingo (& consoling Asher from not winning a prize he so deeply desired) we joined another activity of making "Campfire Cookies". The boys had fun putting their campfires together and then thoroughly enjoyed eating them up as soon as they finished.

At the end of the cookie activity, Eric and his dad joined us and from there we all headed up to the campground office so that Eric's parents could reserve another night at the site and we could warm up a bit. We found that it was nice and toasty in the arcade room and once the boys discovered that someone had left a bunch of money in the Nascar machine allowing free games we camped out there for a while. Asher and Avery both took turns playing the game and then Eric took a turn as well placing first in his race and getting to type his name into the game's leader board.
That evening the boys enjoyed hot dogs over the fire for dinner while the adults had warm bowls of chili that Eric and I had made during the week. Then all of the guys headed off for the free ice cream social before we turned in for the night (we had planned to spend some more time around the fire, but instead the rain started back up).
Finally it was Sunday morning and this time the rain didn't stop. Side Note: Let me just say that camping while pregnant and having to get up 2-3 times every night when it is barely above freezing temperatures and raining out to walk to the bathroom is not a lot of fun! At one point in the wee hours of Sunday morning I slipped in some mud and almost wiped out. Instead, I was able to catch myself but pulled some muscles by doing so which ailed me for several days to come!

When daylight came we huddled out of the rain in Grammy and Gramps' camper and had some cereal and fruit for breakfast. Then it was time to pack up our site and head back home.

We left the campground just before lunch, picked up something to eat quickly on the drive home and then we all enjoyed a mandatory nap time at home (well AFTER I took a very long, very hot shower that is!). Once we'd all rested up Grammy and Gramps came over to our house to visit for a little while and then we headed to Cheddar's for dinner together before saying our goodbyes and finishing out another good weekend.
